First off, thank you very much Willie Mackay for approving my request to join this very fine group. My name is Ken Kirkpatrick - I hail from Charleston, SC and my family, who is Kirkpatrick on the one side and Hunter on the other, is very, very proud of its Scottish and Scots Irish roots. To that point, I wanted to start off by sharing a very important museum that lies in the Great Smoky Mountains of Franklin, North Carolina. The Scottish Tartans Museum. This museum is the only one of its kind in all of North America, and its charter came out of Scotland itself. Staffed completely by volunteers, it is always in need of support and patronage. So, for anyone who is interested in this exceptional historical resource (which by the way, gets all of its Tartan and other accouterments for highland dress ONLY from Scottish vendors) and in supporting it, I provide this link, along with a pictorial flyer of the museum and a poem from my very first book, entitled Words Of A LIfetime... So Far. If you will be visiting the U.S. in the future, this is a worthwhile sotp that deeply impress you and make you proud. The poem below is entitled Scottish Rite, and it celebrates the history of the Scots and their influence on the world, in particular, American history. I hope all who will read it will find it a worthy tribute to our shared histories. I will be donating a copy of it, to the museum, for sale by them in order to keep the fund raising for their projects and O&M costs going. Again, so happy to be here, and look forward to getting to know others in this place in Cyberspace.
