First open global forwarders’ networking event to be held in Africa 24 April 2014 International freight forwarders will convene in Johannesburg from May 12 -14 this year to attend Africargo Meet, the first open freight forwarding networking event that showcases African forwarding companies to the world, according to organisers, The Freight Summit. “The world has witnessed the growing economic situation of Africa over the past 10 years. Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Equatorial Guinea are among the fastest-growing economies in the world,” said co-founder and director of Africargo Meet, Nils Walle, adding that the continent was now starting to benefit from the global business interest. Walle says Africa’s population will double to 2 billion over the next decades and the continent’s GDP is expected to increase from the current US$2 trillion to $29 trillion by 2050.
