First round of the winter league at Tunnel Barn Farm today. Drew - TopicsExpress

First round of the winter league at Tunnel Barn Farm today. Drew peg 13 on Club, which normally would would have been ok, however the pegging had changed so that the pegs opposite and next door were both in. Being in a corner, I thought fishing up the bank would be very good, also had a point of an island slightly to my left at 13m. After plumming to the island, found the bottom was uneven and very rocky and couldnt find any nicer flat areas to fish on. Decided to start the match at top 4 with pellets as I thought the fishing would be very good. A biteless first 15mins so went to top 6, again with pellets. This was also biteless for 15mins. I then decided I would feed maggots by hand on the top 6 line from then on. I went to fish against the island with pellets as the guy opposite me was catching a few F1s against it. Did catch a couple of F1s but me and the guy to my left werent getting any real indications. I then tried my top 6 line where I had been feeding where I caught a few f1s and small skimmers. After trying down the edge and 10m on the bottom I was going nowhere, so with 1hr 20mins to go I went on to my top 6 line - whered I now been feeding very heavy with maggots by hand - this line had come alive and caught around 55lb in the last hour on this line. Ended the match with 72lb which was third on my bank of the lake, but as the other half of my section was on House, I probably ended up around halfway results-wise. Not sure where the team finished up, but I need to get my act together for the next round!
