First shock 3 days after arriving in Damascus, that caused me to stay 3 days in bed, was during an investment meeting for I Love SYRIA when a hardcore pro government Sunni person said that the displaced women for whom I Love Syria project is providing jobs are only good to be butchered, as well as their children and that if it was to him, he would butcher the children of their children...( thank god that its not up to him and that president has offered them shelters in order to protect them) he also added that he helps only the children of our martyrs and that Alawis are better then Sunnis. I dont know where to start with this..but here we go. firstly, not all displaced people in Syria are bad people or connected to terrorists, many people were caught between 2 fires! second, this types of sectarian rhetoric about alawis being better then Sunnis is unacceptable by all standards.. there are very bad people within the alawi sect as well as in the christians and i know some very very good Sunni people! Thirdly, I Love Syria is a project that intends to provide jobs for those most needy in Syrian society, we are a mix of people that represent Syrian society, we have sunnis, christians alawis, and are all from different religious and cultural backgrounds, because this is the fabric of Syria. it is a mosaic! if you do not take all the pieces of this mosaic and glue them back together you will never get Syria back! pls if you hear any of this bullshit, please remind them and remember that we are Syrians above anything and that in itself is sacred!
