First thank you for allowing me to join and hello to all you people. I have read through the first Ten or so comment posts and I can see where your comming from. Unusually maybe for this forum I am not a daily driver I am in fact a time served apprentice engineer now specialising in maintenance of complex engineering machinery. It seems that the majority of the western world (EU) is hell bent on destruction of its professional groups. We have an identical problem inthe engineering sector which trains an supplys people to keep the country running and the lights water and sewers flowing. Where did it start and where will it end? Many of you are children of the 60s some the 70s and ages the 80s what was the significant points? The unions in British Leyland the unions in the mines the ship yards and power generation the 3 day week in 1974 bad wintes with no fuel. Maggies government set out to destroy free collective bargaining and any union that could potentially hold the country to ransom. Not only did they take the organisations apart but they decimated the training structures. In engineering we had the EITB in transport you grew up starting on the small stuff and graduating on opportunity a bit like working up the link on the. railway as a driver. Now we are all classed as shit but oh dear we had an education so we are intel event shit and if allowed to mass. Dangerous intelegent shit. Over the last few years I have been working with woody trying to build a haulage business before that I had a lot of time in amongst muck hauling lorries. During the 80s and 90s we had it all sort of quiet and the establishment thought it was all sorted....... Until... The fuel blockade. The Gov got very concerned so concerned they rebuilt the WW 2 & suez period pipe distribution network at a cost of billions of pounds. What they noted was the power still within the UK drivers pool amongst the lowly ranks of UK workers Drivers were some potentially volatile and able group leaders. You were days away from the UK grinding to a halt big time . So the reason your not being heard by RHA and any other recognised body is to keep you quiet pacified even...... The RHA reports back its members own the fleets they are not drivers. If your going to fight this corner you need personal reserves to sit out the war of attrition most of you live week to week on your wages. I estimate only 50% would sit it out to grind the UK to a halt that would take weeks. It has to be. All out or none out you wont get the big boys group drivers out and you will be faced with black leggers as well. I agree your all professionals with years of experience and safe operation but those at the top dont care get more easterners over here to ensure a balance in their favour open the uk borders to anyone who they can trust to just work bollocks to the conditions. We are all quite smart and that is why we are saying get out, the result will be chaos in 10 years time for the whole operation of Britian not just transport. So its not just you drivers who are pissed off your industry is being minalised and marginalised thought you might like to know. Engineering is the same the. Abu are recruiting men my age because they cant get the skill. Cheers to all Andy sorry for the typos it on my phone !!!
