First, thanks for the prayers for our Maddy today!!! No surprise (Im sure) to anyone who knows her, we left Dr. Matthews with him laughing with her. She loves the attention there...and of course the hugs. And I think they are pretty fond of her as well. Even Dr. Mattews was reminiscing with us in the room! Many of you have followed her journey for six...almost seven....solid years (where has time gone!?) She has gone through four procedures under the care of Dr. Matthews and we believe with all of our hearts he was Heaven-sent. (Ask me the story some day---Id love to share.) Also, as many of you know, last year my husbands insurance company changed through his employer and Dr. Matthews falls out of our network. This leaves us paying out of pocket to see him. Some would ask me at the point why not change surgeons...we wont. For us thats like asking someone else to finish the Sistine Chapel other than Michelangelo; not happening. His work is amazing and if it werent for his push on speech first, appearance second...my daughter might still be in speech therapy. Today we found out her surgery will cost minimally $7,000. This is the only thing holding her from her next procedure. He will work on her wrinkly nose (as he told her today), do some minor lip repair and possibly include a bone graft. We will know further about the bone graft after he speaks with her orthodontist/dentist and sees pictures of x-rays. The operation will also include a one night stay in the hospital. This will not be her last surgical procedure, but it is a huge one. In light of the news, we have set up a fundraiser and you will see our family seeking on behalf of our little girl. I foresee yard sales and bake sales coming up! I appreciate you in advance if you are able to help. And as stated on the Gofundme page, your prayers are sufficient!!! We love you!!!
