First time a visiting team beat the Buffalo Bills at their home - TopicsExpress

First time a visiting team beat the Buffalo Bills at their home stadium (Rich Stadium, now called Ralph Wilson Stadium), and it was my beloved Jacksonville Jaguars taking the honors of doing so, in this amazing 30-27 victory (in our 2nd NFL season)! The win propelled Tom Coughlins Jaguars to Denver for the AFC Divisional Round Playoff contest the following week. According to all in the know -especially the buffoon, Woody Paige, and his infamous Jagwads? column- it was sure to be a brutal beating for the Jags at the hands of John Elway, Terrell Davis, & company. Instead, the Jags again pulled off the unthinkable by the same score of 30-27, securing a spot in the AFC Championship Game in New England against the Patriots Bill Parcells, Drew Bledsoe, Willie McGinest, & company. We fell just short in a competitive game, w/ Carolina also losing (also in their 2nd season) to Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game. Brett Favre and the Packers, ultimately captured what would end up being his sole Super Bowl title as Packers QB, against the Patriots in Super Bowl 31 (New Orleans) by the score of 35-21. Desmond Howard, not Brett Favre, took home Super Bowl MVP honors for the Pack in that game btw. Despite falling just short, it was an amazing ride and experience for the 10 year old version of myself, family/friends, and the Jacksonville community! Ill never forget the energy, passion, and unity, we all felt in January of 1997. Its what ignited my generation of Jags fans, and is still remarkable to reflect on its significance, as teams arent supposed to make the AFC Championship Game in only their 2nd year of existence, simply amazing! #Jaguars #GoJags
