First time watching the Olympic opening ceremonies and here are the interesting things I picked up. Some countries appearing for the first time include Zimbabwe, Dominica, San Marino, Togo, Cayman and Lebanon. There are Canadian forces stationed in Kuwait, Egypt and of course Afghanistan. Russia has the highest number of contestants with 232 followed closely by the US with 230 and Canada with 221 with their 1 Black team mate. Jamaica raised 100k in 2 days over the internet to bring their 3 contestants to Sochi. Russian team got a bigger ovation than their president. Interestingly enough there are quite a few Americans and Canadians representing other countries both as contestants and coaches.
