*FirstTime Reviewer Reviews GLTStudioShows*! Georgetown Little Theatre kicked off our Funny 54th season last night! with The Studio Shows. Instead of Opening with David Mamets classic two-hander, The Duck Variations, SamHancock, RobLong, DylanHamilton and AdamMcCormack treated the crowd to some hilarious impromptu improvisation. Then a brief entre acte by Canadas own Stephen Leacock. The Raft: An Interlude, poked fun at dating. Edwardian-style. GLT-YouthCo Alumni CarlyBravo drifted demurely onto the stage and wooed us with winsome charm, as well as her rescuer, GLT Newcomer, ErikSmith. In the second half: Appearing on a creative set, IanaNedvijenko, most recently seen in GLTs spring show: Butler, explores the myriad of unexpected emotions while expecting. Caring for her and keeping on his toes is the young and endearing DylanHamilton. Labour Pains was directed by first time director Rob Long, whose expression of pride for his two great characters brought to life was heartwarming. Congratulations, Rob, well done! After a lightning quick set-transforming scene change by a team of experts, including GillianTaggart, AdamMcCormack and Ro, who are improving with age, the audience enjoyed a what if scenario in New York Minute. We were treated to a second performance by ErikSmith, as Harry, recently “crossed over” who returns to his friend, Melissa played by Chiv Chivaul, to comfort and explain the meaning of life. Can he convince her? Chiv, also a first time director, has embraced an enigmatic challenge, that of directing oneself. This years iteration of the StudioShows continues, September 12-13 @GLTStudio, 18-20 @Acton Town Hall Centre (19 Willow St. N., Acton). Tickets $10 per person. Curtain 8pm.
