Firstly, thank you to each and every person who came along yesterday. Whether you were a player or a spectator, or you looked after kids, come down early & help set up tents or you helped out with umpiring, baked sweets for the cake stall, sold raffle tickets, or burgers & beers. We are so thankful for your efforts. It was a team effort and Matthew & I together with Kingscliff Hockey Club wish to say a big fat THANKYOU to each of you. Thanks to Kingscliff Hockey Club for supporting our wish to give something back to Kidney Health Australia & raise awareness for DonateLife and the huge importance of Organ Donation. Tim Prichard, Terri Felton, Sharon Lea Prichard & Skin. Thanks to Richard Philip & Jo Philip who we initially discussed our idea with way back and encouraged us to do it. Their support during the planning and running of the day was unwavering and without them it probably wouldnt have happened. Family & also good friends. Thanks to Andrew J Kirby for his MCing ability yesterday. That man can talk! My mum June Kennedy and her helpers on the cake stall... Sandra Gresham, Denise Julius, Tara Prichard & Chanel Kennedy and everyone who baked goods for it. Especially the Philip Burringbar crew, you ladies sure can cook! Rachael De Groot & Sam N Elisa Prichard for selling raffle tickets and the roving pushy sales men of my dad Kev Kennedy & Chub Everingham. If they didnt get $50 off you, you did well to resist! The official photographer for the day was Tiarny Prichard who also had her own two kids to watch and is pregnant with no.3 and still managed to get around and capture the day. Thanks Tiarny. Thanks to Cheryl French who is also a live kidney donation recipient who gave up her time to speak on the day about her experiences, thank you for your contribution. Also Matthews Nephrologist Dr Troy Kay who took time out his Sunday despite being on call to address the crowd about the importance of a Kidney Health & what we can do to limit kidney disease, thank you. Troy has been a big part of our lives for the last 7yrs. Hes a wonderful doctor who takes good care of Matthew. Big thanks to Robert Buchanan who again donated his marquee and cool room for use on the day. Probably $1000 worth of equipment here and he willingly gave us the lot without a second thought. To Ben Markwell & his family (Jaime Markwell) who not only come to the fields twice for the day with eskies & ice for us, but then came back in the middle of the day as supporters, bought some cakes & raffle tickets. Thank you, you are a beautiful family. To all of the local business owners and individuals who donated the over 85 raffle prizes... You should be proud! It was a mammoth effort and the prizes were awesome! Sasha Moase took home the signed titans jersey, Barry Gresham & Sandra took home Mavis the skate deck & Karen Paron got the beautiful canvas print by Enigma Visions. We feel the day was a huge success, not only in terms of funds raised but by the feedback we received throughout the day, we are happy to call it a total success. Without you all, this wouldnt have happened. We also received 130 new Organ Donors who signed up on the day. These will be mailed off in bulk to the Australian Organ & Tissue Donation register and those who signed up will receive cards in the mail. Incredible effort. Awareness was our biggest goal of the day and I think we got our point across. So drum roll please... The GRAND TOTAL of money raised was huge $6250! This exceeded all our expectations for the day. It can be broken down as follows... - $3500 in raffle ticket sales - $1600 in player fees - $$900 cake stall - $250 cheque donation We are humbled. Thank you community for getting behind us and supporting something that means so much to our family. ❤️ P.S - If I have forgotten anyone I am so sorry! P.P.S - I hope everyone knows I scored 4 goals in my first ever attempt at hockey!
