Firstly, to address the article, our Lord Jesus says “If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.” The Lord does marvelous works! And it is truly amazing that people actually doubt when He does something wondrous right where they are. In this example JE gives us a helpful analysis. He says “There was a great stir made about that miracle. They examined the man about it and then examined him again and then examined his parents and then examined him once again about it and finally they chased the restored man out for the respect he showed to the Man that has opened his eyes! The miracles of our Lord, which He had done in their sight, declared to them sufficiently the Truth of His being who He says HE is. Great things, things which have absolutely no human explanation!!!! :) What they had seen and heard already should be enough with them, were not their hearts shut. But yet seeing as they came to Him to ask Him, He was gracious in telling them again. But instead of BELIEVING on Him they take up stones to stone Him! Christ explains to them that if He did NOT do the works of the Father, THEN they might reject Him. This is very true, if the Lord didn’t work, if this were all of man, with absolutely no leading from God Himself, THEN one might understand people’s scepticalness! But when one is filled to the brim by God’s own hand in the sight of His own people, well it is clear—the works CANNOT be from any other power but a Divine Power and indeed evidently show the finger of God in His will and doings!!! All we need to do is consider the works themselves, what KIND they are, the manner, and the end for which they are done. There is a greatness about them! :) Thousands of “little” things that cannot possibly be without HIM! It is a peculiar work by which to distinguish His work from others. This man said simply but powerfully “One thing I KNOW; that though I was blind, now I see.” :) [btw, love the no. 2 note! :D ] The end of course is to glorify God!!! Does this glorify God? YES!!! :D What can be more reasonable than to come to such a conclusion? Some may question, but we will maintain that the proof IS GOOD AND SUFFICIENT! Things as are “obvious” would make denying them absurd. An example might be the word “day” in only ONE Book of the Bible. Drawn pictures I have seen recently prove the ridiculousness of THAT scenario. :) The Christian has been compassed about with watchful enemies for a long time. It is nothing new. :) A great work of the Lord certainly cannot be done without some difficulty, but one thing is sure, it is not supposable that so great an event will ever be forgotten!!! Great stirs have been occasioned by His wondrous works time after time! I anything, it is a tremendous encouragement that we have been so honoured!!!!! :D Then, the sadness part is very true. I do believe that we should pray that these men will repent soon! God gives grace to the humble. :) Sp says the heart is the reservoir of man and our life is allowed to flow in its proper season. Heart is power! Oh for a heart that is full and deep and broad! To go to the foot of Calvary, is to be bathed in love and gratitude! For man to continually draw his impulse, his LIFE, from the God without whom we can do nothing, there will be no fear of his having a dry heart!!! It is to say this: “Now for the love I bear His name, What was my gain I count my loss. My former pride I call my shame, And nail my glory to His Cross.” That’s the spirit! :) If the heart is not pure, then consequentially the actions will not be pure either. We must ask the Holy Spirit to pacify the heart. :) A stony heart is an impure heart, a divided heart, a warring heart. It is a heart that is poor and poverty-stricken, a heart that is void of all goodness! And a man can neither bless himself nor others if his heart is such. O Lord Jesus! Will You be pleased this day to renew many hearts? Will You break the rock in pieces and put flesh instead of stone? And You shall have the Glory, world without end!
