He was born Dec. 16, 1950 to the late John W. and Lelah M. (Lease) Holsky. He was a former foreman for the City of Mt. Vernon Public Parks Department. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was very talented with many interests, including poetry, painting, and learning about various subjects. He penned the following poem, “Fear and Light” upon the death of his mother in 1999: “How deep can one man’s sorrow be, When faced with death and tragedy? How much his heart quakes with regret, For words and deeds he’s not done yet. For just one chance to set things right. He makes a vow to God’s sweet light. In Jesus’ name he asks with love, To receive a blessing from above. To help his heart not be afraid, And forgive him for the mistakes he’s made.” He is survived by his former wife and caretaker, Tammy Blaisdell of Mt. Vernon, a sister, Pamela Jo (Terry) Shaira of Chesterfield, MI, one niece, two nephews, good friends, Brandon & Sarah Dawson of Brinkhaven, three grandchildren; Riley, Shawna, and Breanna Dawson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
