Fish River Canyon is the first place we visited on our Namibia - TopicsExpress

Fish River Canyon is the first place we visited on our Namibia trip. We stayed at Canon Lodge, which in itself is worth a visit- positioned in rocky outcrops about 15km from the Canyon itself. The Canyon was a great site to see, although to get the best photography it would have been best to go at sunset or sunrise to get the colours reflected off the canyon walls. Nevertheless - a great sight and well worth the visit. The Mountain Wheatear is a common bird in the area, and one not often regularly seen in South Africa - it comes in many forms and identification can initially be confusing. Pale-winged starlings are also common in the area, and lookout at all the Sociable-weaver nests for the diminutive Pygmy Falcon.
