Fish Stocking Regulations Threaten Access to #Fishing Lakes The Log Newspaper reports, Accusing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) of illegally drafting regulations that could force fishing lakes, private hatcheries and fish farms out of business, Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) urged federal judges to protect recreational anglers and the aquaculture industry from falling victim to “burdensome” and “underground” regulations. The State proposed fish stocking regulations would require fishing lakes to pay for environmental studies that could cost as much as $100,000 a year! This combined with onerous regulations imposed on private fish farmers would make fish stocking so costly that many California lakes would no longer be able to stock fish! Consider the impact of these regulations when 100% of warm water fish are stocked by private fish farmers (and not the State) and large portions of cold waters too! This is why PLFs lawsuit, on behalf of the California Association for Recreational Fishing, is so critical to the future of recreational fishing. To learn more, click the article below.
