Fish port projects assured complete by end of August CONTRACTORS of two big projects worth more than P200 million at the Iloilo Fishing Port Complex (IFPC) at Tanza, Iloilo City assured to finish construction by the end of August 2014. The projects include the repair and rehabilitation of IFPC facilities and utilities worth P94.3 million by contractor F. Gurrea Construction Inc. and the construction of IFPC Breakwater Phase I worth P102.3 million by International Builders Corp. Senate President Franklin M. Drilon has suggested the inauguration of both projects by the end of August 2014 so that stakeholders will use and benefit from the projects immediately. The rehabilitation of the IFPC facilities was started in August 15, 2013 with funds from the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority. Scope of works include improvement of cold storage facilities for the National Meat Inspection System accreditation, repair of existing market, construction of new market hall, repair of admin building, refrigeration building, harbor facilities, quayside outlets, water supply, perimeter fence and entrance gates, power and electrical center, and construction of marine processing plant. The breakwater project is funded by the Agri-Pinoy Fisheries Program and PDAF and started in January 9, 2013 until January 2014. The scope of works include mobilization of construction equipment, clearing of unsuitable materials, underlayer rocks, casting of concrete block, offshore casing of concrete, fabrication and installation of steel form for cast in place concrete.
