Fishing, firemen and favours far away..... I left too late from - TopicsExpress

Fishing, firemen and favours far away..... I left too late from the little fishing village of El Jebha yesterday morning, enjoying the spectacle of the catch being landed, boxes of fish being offloaded, nets repaired and everyone, the hundreds involved, seemingly paid by way of a plastic shopping bag full of fish. Hundreds of men; not a woman in sight. This gender imbalance is the same in every cafe* I left too late, even knowing I have a deadline in a couple of days that I cant miss. As if to teach me, the Rif Mountains showed off their punishing angles. Up, up, up I went leaving the sea behind. Then straight down losing all the gain. Then up, then down, up, down, up....... It was dark when I rode into Rouadi village after an 85km rollercoaster ride. There was nowhere to stay and Im tent less for first time on the journey. Then Faisal, the local fireman, stepped in and invited me home. His mum and wife prepared for me that renowned Moroccan dish of...........spaghetti with tomato sauce Meanwhile I received a message from 2 Americans currently riding across Australia. They sent me a link to their blog https://crazyguyonabike/doc/page/?o=Sh&page_id=401272&v=R In the second half of this entry youll read of the actions of the Special Package; repaying a little of some of the endless kindnesses Ive received. I cant tell you how much Im looking forward to the fine hospitality of that beautiful woman ........ *As if to catch me out, as Im writing this Sunday morning in a cafe in Rouadi, a woman has come in to eat breakfast.
