Fishless. Birdless. This is the Western Pacific today. Its what happened when Righties beloved *free market* was allowed to run amok with living ecosystems we all relied on and could have conserved. Instead of acting wisely, weve had 30 years of endless industrial murder and waste of every form of sea life. For what? For Japans freaking sushi bars and Chinas mall-size fish markets? Never mind the endless island of plastic trash that makes the ocean a giant land fill. The overfishing and complete disregard for the eco-science that warned us about this shows us how our response to Climate Change will proceed. This really angers and saddens me. We are fools. This has been going on for 25 years and all we can do is worry about fishermens jobs. Its not the small boats people; its the gargantuan factory ships. They havent relented or been stopped. The only people who have fought them are Greenpeace volunteers - who everyone scoffs at as feckless radicals. Thank you to the few who have been trying to stop this.
