Fitness Tip of the Day: Does the time of day (morning vs. evening) impact burning more calories? Source: Fitness Together Just Do It! Whether you choose to exercise in the morning, evening or mid-day....you can burn calories. Just Get It Done! If losing weight is your main goal for working out and keeping the weight off, then it may be necessary to spend some mental and physical energy -- day in and day out, eating healthier, choosing calorie-controlled meals and getting in that calorie-burning exercise. The goal here being to balance the calorie math! The goal for weight loss is to consume fewer calories than your body requires, creating what is called a calorie deficit. A calorie deficit of 500 calories per day results in one-pound of weight loss of body fat in one weeks time. Whatever time you choose to exercise is dependent on your personal schedule. In addition to getting in your planned exercise program, you may want to consider other ways that you can remain physically active throughout the day, ie., parking farther away from your place of employment or using the stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible. So, does the time of day you exercise impact your calorie burning? No it does not. Your best option is to consider eating small, frequent, nutritious(calorie-controlled) meals throughout the day and combine that eating style with a daily exercise program as well as making an effort to move around more.
