Fitness challenge - Day 20 Weight: 92kg The plan today was to run but it didnt quite work out that way. Linky wanted to go for a bike ride in the morning so we did that instead. I have a wee-ride on my mountain bike and he sits in front of me and can see where we are going. He loves it! We Just did a loop around where I live in a fairly hard gear so I got a good leg workout. It was terribly humid today so even after only 40 odd minutes on the bike I was drenched in sweat. I tried to get an after ride selfie with him but he wasnt interested in having his photo taken. We did 12.59km in 42:36 averaging 17.72km/hr After doing a bit of housework and the baby went to bed for his nap I mowed two thirds of my acre by hand. I went up and down the hill today to make it a bit more strenuous. I didnt run any of it but focused on keeping my core tight and I didnt use the self-drive. I wore the vibrams again and tried to walk with a mid foot strike instead of a heel landing. It definitely makes for a pain free walking style, even though it feels a bit weird. It took me 1:43:34 to get it done and I walked roughly 2.63km, up and down the hill pushing the mower. While I was working out the front I noticed the teenage boys (my neighbours sons) in their yard tossing a slam ball around and then doing medicine ball work. They had their shirts off and I have seen them around many times doing weights and working out. Ive also seen their parents out side many times....mowing the grass, pulling weeds, planting, cleaning gutters, moving heavy pot plants, chopping wood..... This tells me two things about those boys. They are both terribly vain and terribly lazy....if they spent some more time doing some of the chores around the place, maybe just digging holes for plants or chopping wood, they wouldnt have to spent all their time in the gym. They definitely wouldnt be carrying so much additional body fat despite all the gym work! I followed the mowing up with a nice refreshing swim in our pool with my boys and then watched my two older boys make Lego cars for the little one. Beats hours of gym work any day :-) After twenty days I am very happy with my progress. Ive lost 4kg, I am feeling fitter and stronger, my diet has improved dramatically and there has not been one complaint from any family members that I have been wasting too much time exercising or missing out on family time.
