Fitzys Rant (Gibson edition).......Phew what an afternoon. This is a little long but quite a story..... First, thanks so much for all your caring and thoughtful responses, it really means a lot!! The good news is that Gibson seems to be doing just fine tonight and acting like a little puppy. However, the story thickens........After a short debate, Amy and I opted to take him to his new vet in Boxboro rather than back to Andover where he was neutered yesterday. His vitals were fine, no fever or sign of infection and he actually livened up for the first time all day when he got to the vet. Prior to that he was the living dead as I had previously reported. He took his first solid poop while there and they hydrated him. After reviewing his medical report from Andover hospital, Doctor said the dose of tranquilizer he was given was enough for a 100 pound dog and he only weighs 15 pounds. So, basically he was severely drugged out and traumatized but otherwise looked fine. THEN.......Amy and I were waiting for the Doctor I followed thru on a weird gut feeling I had since first meeting him last night, and had Amy pull up the original photo we saw of him on the Adoption website. WE WERE DELIVERED A DIFFERENT DOG THAN THE ONE WE THOUGHT WE HAD BOUGHT. Yes, some of the coloring looks the same but upon a closer look, no way the same dog!! Our vet and the nurse both 100% agreed that the dog in the photo was not Gibson. When we told them that he was supposed to be a Border Collie mix they both said no way and believe he is Saint Bernard mix. Without a DNA test we wont know for sure but we thought we were getting a 35 pound dog and the vet suggested based on his size at this age he could be a 100 pound dog. Well, you can imagine all the questions that came flooding into our minds. Now, we love him to pieces already and dont want to lose him but even his micro chip didnt respond to the code on his paper work. DID WE GET SOMEONE ELSES DOG???? Will he be right for our small house???? Is he going to be healthy???? We know nothing about him now. Amy was really upset tonight, I dont know what to think and we await some answers from the adoption agency. Stay tuned......
