Five Favourite Tunes - Day 5 So here I am at the culmination of my five favourite tunes spread across five days and I do not think any of you that know me will be at all surprised to discover the band and possibly even the track that is top of my pile? There could only be one band that are at no1 for me because my love for them really has been pretty much life long, certainly the love spans each and every year that I have been a music fan and goes way back to 1972 where I was just 11. That was when I heard them for the very first time and that is where it all began. It is of course the greatest hard rock band of all time, the incomparable Thin Lizzy and my chosen track; The Cowboy Song and of course it has to be live and the version culled from Live and Dangerous. By a country mile the finest live album in rock. I really cannot begin to describe the impact Thin Lizzy have had on me throughout my life and perhaps it is summed up best by the fact that they are still my first and greatest love 42 years later. The music and the character typified by Thin Lizzy really resonated with me on so many levels. The band that invented, perfected and extolled the twin guitar harmony, often copied never bettered and in Lynott, the most charismatic front man ever. The Rocker, The Lover, The Poet and The true Rock n Roll Cowboy. The cut I have chosen of course features the classic Lizzy line up of Lynott, the man at the back Brian Downey and the twin guitar attack of Robbo, Brian Robertson and all the way from the USA Scott Gorham. In the studio Lizzy were fiery but live they took it to another level and were always incendiary and powerful and in Lynott, the showman; Are you out there, let me know youre out there! I am just a Cowboy, lonesome on the trail. Thanks to Kirsty for the nomination and I hope you have all enjoyed my very personal selections? https://youtube/watch?v=jpBTgmPgFxs
