Five were killed and 20 others injured when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) super fast bus and a private bus collided on the Main Central (MC) Road between Ayur and Chadayamangalam in Kollam district around 9.45 a.m. on Monday. The KSRTC bus was proceeding from Thiruvananthapuram to Pampa on the foothills of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple. According to reports, the private bus, hit the KSRTC bus as it was trying to overtake a car at a bend. Six persons were taken to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College. The condition of those taken to the medical college hospital was stated to be serious. Those who sustained minor injuries were taken to the nearby Kadakkal government hospital.
