Five years ago today—November 21, 2008--something remarkable happened that eventually sparked my lifes purpose. At the wedding rehearsal dinner of our son and daughter-in-law, they each presented a framed heartfelt letter of appreciation to their respective parents, describing what it was like, growing up in their family, what qualities they most admired about each parent, and what values they had learned from their parents that they planned to bring to their marriage. This was their unique idea, and everyone present was deeply moved by their unique gesture—so much better than a purchased gift. In the months following, I decided to make it my mission to show others how meaningful and relationship-changing such letters could be. Byron and Rachael, thank you so much for your inspiration, and congratulations on your five-year wedding anniversary tomorrow, too!
