Scott approves 3 sales tax holidays – Mark your calendars • May 31-June 8 – a nine-day sales tax holiday for hurricane preparation supplies (batteries, flashlights, tarps, and even generators worth) $750 or less without having to pay the states 6 percent sales tax • Aug 1-3 – a three-day back-to-school sales tax holiday clothes worth $100 or less, school supplies worth $15 or less or on the first $750 of the cost of a personal computer • Sept. 19-21 – a three-day sales tax holiday for purchases of energy-efficient appliances costing $1,500 or less
