Flamboyant Ohangwena regional governor Usko Nghaamwa and his wife - TopicsExpress

Flamboyant Ohangwena regional governor Usko Nghaamwa and his wife Lucia have reportedly withdrawn their 2015 Parliamentary ticket, handing his Hardap counterpart Katrina Hanse-Himarwa a direct ticket to Parliament. The governor and his wife who occupy position 44 and 55 respectively on the Swapo parliamentary list and have written to the Swapo Party requesting not to be included on the Parliamentary list as they have some unfinished business in the region. On Friday Swapo Party Secretary General Nangolo Mbumba refused to authenticate Nghaamwas withdrawal; Thats none of your business. How they (the Nghaamwas) react is their own doing as they are elected by people and then they choose what do with that, whether to accept or reject it, said Mbumba. With Rundu Principal Marina Kandumbu (on position 70) set to be disqualified from the list following the emergence of her trail of corruption cases, this leaves Hanse-Himarwa who is on number 80, with a shot at Parliament, taking the ruling partys number 77 seat. Swapo amassed 77 parliamentary seats in the recent national elections. Hanse-Himarwa, a staunch campaigner of the President-elect Dr Hage Geingob was a shock absentee in the 77 where allegations of the Swapo pot being sabotaged by fellow party members eager to be closer to Geingob became rampant last year. Oshili24 has made numerous calls to governor Nghaamwas cell phone since Friday, but none were answered or returned. Swapo insiders claim Nghaamwa, a die-hard Swapo leader has vowed to stay in the region for continuity following talks of the 2017 Agenda, while others argue that Nghaamwas backtracking could be a result of him preferring to protect his vast business interests in the North, businesses which stretch from farming to property.
