Flash Flood Watch in effect from noon PDT today through Monday evening... The National Weather Service has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for a portion of central California... including the following areas... Indian Wells Valley... Kern County mountains... southeastern Kern County desert and Tulare County mountains. * From noon PDT today through Monday evening * an influx of monsoonal moisture will fuel thunderstorms... some with very heavy rain... over the Kern County mountains and desert in addition to the southern Sierra Nevada south of Kings Canyon from this afternoon through Monday evening. * Slow moving thunderstorms containing heavy downpours may produce excess runoff and cause rapid water rises in a very short period of time resulting in flash flooding. Normally dry creeks and washes can turn into raging... swift moving currents of water in just minutes and become life threatening. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued. = = = = = = = = = = = = = Today A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
