Flick of the Week!!! 300: Rise of an Empire. Starring Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, and Gerard Butler (for flashback shits and giggles). This Flick takes place before, during and after the first film. Its starts off with the Syrian King Darius being mortally wounded in front of his still normal looking son Xerxes (Santoro) by an arrow shot from Themesticles (Stapleton) of Athens at the battle of marathon. King Darius dies soon after and Xerxes is coerced by Artemisia (Green), King Darius naval commander, into being wrapped in LSD soaked loin cloths to walk the desert and find himself. He ends up finding a cave of hermits and a pool of more LSD which he bathes in. When he emerges from it he is transformed into the golden underwear wearing goth with the auto-tune voice from the first Flick. He then declares war on Greece as the god king Xerxes. Artemisia and Themesticles, with their armies, take over the rest of the Flick in their back and forth battles. Queen Gorgo (Headey) wraps up the flick with a narration of the final battle, as its taking place, as the widow coming to avenge the death of her husband, King Leonidis (Butler). This Flick was a highly stylized, overly dramatized, hour and forty five minutes of slow motion. Seriously, every other shot was in slow motion. Not to mention the fact that not a single drop of fake blood was used. All the blood in this movie was computer generated and it looked it. Also, there were only two sets of boobs in the entire flick!! The chick boob to man boob ratio was way out of balance. A lot of people dug this flick. It wasnt the worst Stinker Ive seen but Ive seen way better. This was not Sparta. This Flick is #1 at the box office and got a 7.1 on IMDb. Eh, What do they know? Flick
