Flintshire shows that he may be one of the best horse in the world - TopicsExpress

Flintshire shows that he may be one of the best horse in the world over 1 1/2 miles with a dominant win in the LONGINES Hong Kong Vase. The Arc de Triomphe and Breeders Cup Turf runner-up at his last two starts was too strong for his rivals as he justified the even-money odds. Despite a slow tempo up front, Maxime Guyon gave the Andre Fabre-trained runner a great trail, and he sprinted clear with 200 metres to go. Willie Cazals showed he may be a handy 2400-metre horse for Hong Kongs premier races later in the season with a good second, while Khaya also finishing well for third. The winner clearly showed he was the best horse in the race. Runners are heading onto the track for the next race at Sha Tin, the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint over 1200 metres. A great field of sprinters, with the locals looking to win a Group 1 after the Vase went to overseas connections. The favourite is Aerovelocity, who has been a real up and coming sprinter in Hong Kong, though his colours were lowered with an inexplicable failure in the Jockey Club Sprint three weeks ago, but probably worth forgiving as his form prior to that was brilliant. The winner of that key lead-up in Peniaphobia will certainly be there and abouts again, while Hong Kongs Dubai Golden Shaheen winner Sterling City will also be looking to return to form, as will Lucky Nine who won this race in 2011. Japanese sprinter Snow Dragon won the Group 1 Sprinters Stakes last start, the race that last years impressive winner Lord Kanaloa came from, while Singapore superstar Spalato will be better than he was in the Jockey Club Sprint. Gordon Lord Byron is always formidable raider, while the sentimental hope is that Queensland champion Buffering can emulate the likes of Falvelon and Apache Cat being an Australian Hong Kong Sprint winner, and will give a great sight and will take some running down. Going with Aerovelocity here as his run last start was too bad to be true, and could turn the tables on a number of runners who beat him home three weeks ago, while always will have a little bit on Buffering to run well.
