Flipping between the channels CNN and Times Now throughout the last hour tells A tale of two countries, their media and their respective priorities. On Times Now channel its Arnab standing on a rainy afternoon near The Times Square, New York covering Modis upcoming visit and promising further nonstop coverage. On CNN ( any other mainstream American media for that matter) there is hardly any mention of Modis visit. Events related to ISIS and the impending mid-term elections in US rules the roost on CNN prime time. This invariably has been the case close to couple of decades ever since I started to follow the visits of Indian Prime Ministers on American soil from American soil. So far it has not deviated a lot from the past. On the other hand I have seen Clinton, Bush and Obama visiting India and treated like rock stars. Our MPs rush to shake their hands like kids fighting for candies. Hardly a fraction of the same kind of frenzy is visible here on visits by Indian counterparts. Hopefully things might be different when Modi addresses the rally at Madison Square this weekend. Lets see.
