Floo Fighters...We are fighting the flu at this house...our sweet Nancy is sick, so Nat & David & I are being extremely careful while we care for her, taking extra cootie precautions and using natural homemade remedies as much as possible. I want to share the recipe for the Wellness Elixir that Brook Bolen made for me last winter when I had the flu...it worked really WELL!! :) (thank you, Brook!) Of course Im giving it to Nancy but the rest of us are drinking it preventively as well. Gonna use the word WELL as many times as I can, to make a WELLNESS SPELL with the word WELL! Also sharing the cough syrup recipe that Doug Williams posted this morning (thank you, Doug!)...I just made some and took it upstairs to Nancy...she says it actually tastes pretty good, and I do not hear her coughing anymore. Love yall!! BE WELL!!! ***WELLNESS ELIXIR, from Naturally Well magazine: Simmer three sliced lemons, one teaspoon freshly grated ginger, one clove freshly minced garlic, and one quarter teaspoon cayenne pepper in five cups water until the lemons are soft and pale. Strain a portion into a mug and add honey by tablespoons until you can tolerate the taste. *(I add extra honey to the whole pot while it is simmering on the stove)* Drinking this potent mixture of antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal ingredients three times each day can ensure your symptoms never progress into a full-blown illness.” I am keeping a pot of this going on the stove...makes the kitchen smell really good! Smells healthy! Or you can cool it down, put it in a jar and keep in the fridge. It tastes pretty nasty and I found that eating one of the little clementine oranges while you drink it really helps. And chocolate kills the aftertaste!!!
