The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in. Brantley county in southeast Georgia. This includes the cities of: Nahunta, Hoboken. •Until 11:15 pm EDT. •At 9:38 pm EDT, weather service Doppler radar indicated a broad area of rainfall with embedded Thunderstorms moving over Brantley County, with hourly rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches. This rainfall was falling onto already saturated ground, which may cause some flooding problems. Recommended actions Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways, streets and underpasses. Additionally, Country Roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks, streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move Up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising. If you have to leave your home, remember these evacuation tips: •Do not walk through moving water. Six inches of moving water can make you fall. If you have to walk in water, walk where the water is not moving. Use a stick to check the firmness of the ground in front of you. •Do not drive into flooded areas. If floodwaters rise around your car, abandon the car and move to higher ground if you can do so safely.
