Flood Watch remains in effect for most of southern...central and coastal Maine from tonight through Monday afternoon. Winter Storm Watch Sunday for mountains and foothills for some accumulating snow. There is going to be a lot of water around by Monday morning with rain...heavy at times...and perhaps starting out as sleet and some freezing rain inland. Rain will become heavy Sunday afternoon and evening before tapering to showers on Monday. Total rainfall of 1 to 3 inches on top of a deep moisture-laden snowpack will create some flooding along with ice jams in rivers. Interests near waterways...small rivers and streams should closely monitor water levels Sunday and Monday. Urban flooding is also possible near snow-clogged drains and poor drainage areas. In the foothills and mountains temps will be cold enough for mostly snow with several inches accumulating...therefore a Winter Storm Watch is in effect there. There may be minor coastal flooding and beach erosion near high tide Sunday...especially from Portland south to the NH Seacoast due to astronomical high tides. More on this as warranted. Low Pressure will ride along the stalled cold front that moved offshore earlier this morning. There is plenty of Gulf and Atlantic moisture with this system and rainfall amounts will be heavy. Today will be a nice day with sun giving way to increasing clouds this afternoon and rain will move into the region tonight. High today in the mid 40s. Sunday will feature a mixed bag changing to a cold rain at the coast with highs in the 30s. Updates as necessary...have a good day everyone.
