Floods have devastated Jammu and Kashmir. In my life time I have never seen this kind of devastation through the floods.More than 150 persons dead, which in my opinion is a grossly understated figure. Houses, Vehicles, Shikaras have been washed away.Water has entered even second floors of houses. You can see people standing on roof tops of their houses, bridges with a view to save their lives.Life of the people in Jannathas become worse than in hell. Army has done a commendable job in saving the lives of almost 60000 persons and is faced with a daunting task of saving more than 6 times of the number of persons already saved. These people all stranded at present and are looking for help. It is ironical that all those who used tero criticise the presence of army in J & K, keep staring at the sky and all around to have a glimpse these army personnel in the hope of being rescued by these Messiahs. All these people would be realising that all these years , number of them had been misguided by certain terrorist groups and some of the politicians from this side and across the border. Army is faced with a stupendous task and I am sure that they will come trumps in their efforts. But more importantly each one of us has to come forward to contribute to mitigate the hardship caused to our countrymen in J &K. We may contribute in any form.It may be financial, clothing, blankets, tents, medicines and so on.All those who can do it physically may do it that way.Elders may pray for well being of people in J &K. Looking at J&K today one is reminded of the film WAQT and its theme song, Waqt se din aur raat, Waqt se kal aur aap, Waqt ki har sheh ghulam, Waqt ka har sheh par raj.May God bring back good days in J&K and it is Jannat again.
