Florida Breast Cancer Foundation Invites Proposals for Lunch and Learn Training Programs Founded in 1993, the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation is dedicated to ending breast cancer through advocacy, education, and research. The foundation is currently offering education grants in the form of Lunch and Learns. FBCF supports programs in the form of Lunch and Learn training sessions for healthcare professionals (i.e., social workers, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who work with breast cancer) on how to better understand and incorporate patient navigation and treatment services in providing the following for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families: culturally sensitive breast health education, psychosocial education, survivorship, prevention, screening, treatment and diagnosis. Preference will be given to proposals that specifically show a plan to incorporate several or all of these topics in the Lunch and Learn session to be offered. A variety of education materials are available at minimum or no cost from FBHC, the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen, and Cancer Information Services. Some items are targeted to special populations; this by no means is an exhaustive list. Before requesting funds to create new materials, applicants are strongly encouraged to contact any or all the organizations listed. FBCF recommends that existing materials be used in any project whenever possible. FBCF encourages all applicants to apply for four to six Lunch and Learns, at approximately $1,500 each. All budgets should be built to reflect actual costs and goals of your program. Grants are available for up to one year. Funding is not available for screening or treatment programs. Only Florida community-based organizations that are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Florida governmental entities are eligible to apply for funding. Applicant organizations must provide services in Florida.
