Florida Man Arrested and Tried For Walking on Wrong Side of the Road A Florida man is suing the sheriff’s office in the county where he lives for throwing him in jail and putting him on trial for walking on the wrong side of the road. According to First Coast News, Bobby Wingate, 36, was walking along Oliver Street when he was approached by an officer asking questions. Andrew Bonderu, Wingate’s attorney, says his client responded to the officer’s questions by telling him he didn’t have time to talk. After Wingate told the officer he didn’t have time to chat, the officer began harassing Wingate. The officer allegedly got out of his patrol car and closed in on Wingate. Wingate called 911 as the officer approached him, and says the officer hit him in the face and reached for his taser. According to Wingate, the officer went so far as to challenge him to a fist fight. On the 911 call, a bewildered Wingate tells the 911 dispatcher “I haven’t done anything wrong” adding, “He said, do I really want to fight him?” Wingate was charged with walking on the wrong side of the road and resisting arrest without violence. The lawsuit also alleges that State’s Attorney Angela Corey has a habit of bringing cases to trial just so prosecutors can get hands on trial experience. If you don’t recall, Angela Corey is the same prosecutor who former medical examiner Dr. Shiping Bao has accused of mismanaging the George Zimmerman prosecution. “The conduct that is outlined in the transcript and the 9-1-1 call is not only breathtaking, it’s outrageous, it’s disgraceful,” said Bonderud."
