Floyd Mayweather W12 Marcos Maidana... In Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather made all the necessary adjustments while Marcos Maidana had much less success than in their first fight, which added up to Mayweathers second victory over Maidana in 2014. The second bout was far less competitive and far less interesting than the first, as Mayweather mostly content to throw jabs and counterpunches at Maidana from a safe distance. Mayweather retained two welterweight championships and a junior middleweight championship with an easy decision that was scored by 115-112 (twice) and 116-111 by the three judges. The fight was more one-sided than those scores would indicate. Boxingtalk scored it 117-110 Mayweather, now 47-0 over an 18 year pro career. Mayweather was extremely economical with his offense, throwing just 326 punches throughout the twelve rounds and outlanding Maidana 166 punches to 128. While Mayweather will certainly be criticized for an uninteresting fight, Maidana also deserves criticism for his unimaginative and one-dimensional fight plan that he remained faithful to when it was obviously failing him. source: showtime
