Flu season hit campus pretty hard the past week or so. Heres some good advice about staying healthy: 1. Get a flu shot (it’s not too late!) Vaccines are available at the Student Health Center on campus and are free for all students. To make an appointment call 775-784-6598. 2. Wash your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Also try to avoid close contact with sick people, eat well, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly. Frequently clean commonly used surfaces such as doorknobs, keyboards and bathroom areas. Public areas arent cleaned as often as you might think, so remember to wash your hands frequently if you use a lot of public spaces and computers The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. Symptoms include: fever, headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat, runny nose and body aches. If you contract the flu, stay home from school or work for 24 hours after your fever is gone. .
