Flying Eagles halt Brazil winning streak Wednesday, 05 June 2013 07:56 Flying Eagles Flying Eagles played their best game at the Toulon Tournament to hold world champions Brazil to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night. Nigeria now have two points from three matches and must beat Portugal on Thursday and hope Belgium beat Mexico for them to play the third-place playoff against the runners-up of Group A. Colombia and Brazil have qualified for the final of the competition as they won their groups with nine points and 10 points, respectively. On Tuesday, Nigeria fell behind on the dot of half time when the dangerous Erik Lima scored for Brazil when he fired a low shot past goalkeeper John Felegha. Alhaji Gero had a great chance to draw level on 25 minutes, but he was not decisive inside the Brazil goal area. The Flying Eagles responded very well after the restart with the injection of a new strike force as Olanrewaju Kayode, Samuel Eduok and Edafe Egbedi were introduced to the fray. They then had a goal disallowed and Egbedi could also have signalled his entry in a big way, but he chose to drag a pass backwards when he was clear on goal inside the box. Enugu Rangers striker Alhaji Gero made up for a couple of missed chances earlier in the game to score a superb equaliser in the 53rd minute. It was his second goal of the tournament.
