Flying in an Aeroplane can be Scary at Times An aeroplane is travelling across the Atlantic ocean towards America when the captain announces on the intercom, ‘Ladies and gent leman, one of our engines has failed. There is no need to worry. Our plane will take an hour longer than scheduled to reach its destinat ion, but we still have three engines left. Thank you.’ A few minutes later the captain comes on the intercom once more. ‘Ladies and gent lemen. Another engine has failed. The flight will take an addit ional two hours to reach its destinat ion, but there is no need to worry as we can st ill fly on two engines. Thank you.’ Half an hour later the captain’s voice is heard again. ‘Ladies and gentlemen. One more engine has failed and the flight will now take an addit ional three hours to reach its dest inat ion. There is no need to worry - we still have one engine left.’ At this point, one of the passengers mutters in annoyance to the man next to him, ‘If we lose one more engine, we’ll be up here all day!’
