Flying to Ladakh two weeks from today. Ladakh is politically part - TopicsExpress

Flying to Ladakh two weeks from today. Ladakh is politically part of India, but culturally and geographically part of Tibet. I will be joining an international group of seven from the U.K., Australia, and Canada to begin a four week long challenging trek through Ladakh following footpaths used for centuries from the sacred monastery at Lamayuru to the heart of the Zanskar valley, into the Markha valley and on to the desolate Rupshu region and Changthang plateau of western Tibet. We will end the journey at Tsomoriri Lake famous for its unique wildlife sanctuary and nomads. We will be crossing seven mountain passes over 16,000 feet and do numerous cold river crossings. We hike about seven to ten hours a day on average. Im estimating we will hike more than two hundred miles over a rugged mountain desert like terrain. Im thinking this will be my last mountain adventure, but Ive said this too many times before, and my family doesnt believe me any more.
