Flügger cares about the environment Paint is a product, which we all have contact with every day at home, at school or at work. We consider it as our duty to deliver products, which do not have a negative impact on human health. We have broadened our assortment so that the number of products fulfilling either the European Ecolabel or the Nordic Ecolabel criteria has increased from 16 to 24. Thus, a typical consumer can paint the entire home with ecolabel products from Flügger. Our environmental responsibility applies to both human-product interaction and to our production methods. Our production of paint in Denmark, Sweden and recently also in China, which accounts for over 90% of the group’s production, is environmentally certified with ISO 14001. The largest energy consumer in our chain of Flügger shops is the lighting. That’s why we have introduced a new lighting system, which reduced the use of energy by 36%. The new system is used in all newly established shops and will be fully taken into use gradually, as the shop lighting is renewed. In the factory and warehouse in Kolding we have implemented a larger lighting project and reduced the use of energy by 74%. In the factory in Bodafors we have reduced the total use of energy by 35 %, thanks in large part to a new chilling system, which cools plastic components to e.g. brushes and rollers, with cool air. The new chilling system has replaced the previous high energy consumption processes. Although we generally meet our environmental targets, it has so far been impossible to reach our ambitious target to reduce the use of energy by 20 % in the factories and 10 % in distribution. This has proved to require investments and activities to a greater extent, than we had first estimated. However, we continue to launch and implement energy saving projects in order to reach the target.
