Focus on Filmmakers –The Close Up, where you can learn more about the films you’re going to see on May 19. This week’s CU: Neely Goniodksy Director, Writer, Animator: “The Smiths. I believe compassion and understanding through empathy and a supportive community can reinforce feelings of dignity and self-worth in families who have lost everything. Neely’s animation style is a mixture of hand-drawn animation, digital cutouts and painting. She does all of it herself. Look for the bell in her piece – it’s used as a symbol. Neely always knew she wanted to talk about the reality that it takes a community to end homelessness. She also wanted to make sure that her film had a hopeful, but realistic ending.
