Focusing On The Main Thing This Christmas I love watching - TopicsExpress

Focusing On The Main Thing This Christmas I love watching movies, especially during Christmas , because there is just a special joy around this particular season. However, this Christmas, I am quite careful on the kind of movies I am watching, especially because of the underlying messages being portrayed. If you go to YouTube, you will find tonnes of Christmas movies talking about people falling in love, kids getting pets, the first winter snow falling, and several other mushy stuff happening all because of what is now called Christmas Magic. “And how can we forget Santa Claus, the dominant Christmas figure especially in the West. You had better not tell your kids that Santa Claus doesnt exist, coz they will lose the Christmas magic forever, and you will ruin the spirit of Christmas. And we will sing happy Christmas carols, listen to their latest remixes, and share them with our friends, and say how cool they are.” But sadly we may not have time to go back to our Bibles to read a few pages just to remind us why Christmas is so important to us. We may not meditate on the wonder of the Incarnation: that Jesus, who was in His very nature God, considered equality with God nothing to be grasped but took up the form of a servant and was found in Human likeness, that the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us. We may get so caught up with making merry, that we become oblivious as to why we do it. Will love, generosity, hope, peace and forgiveness be simply because of “Christmas Magic”, or will we allow these virtues to flow in and through us out of a sweet surrender to Jesus Christ because these are what He represented by His coming? The Love of God, generous grace, hope of salvation, peace with God and others, and the forgiveness of sins. I said I love watching movies. Maybe you are familiar with the movie titled “Perfect Stranger,” written by Jefferson Moore. I recently watched his latest fine production “Perfect Gift,” a tool to remind all of us why we celebrate Christmas. It is a bold message that seeks to remind us the deep truths of Christmas in a time when Santa Claus, reindeer, Christmas trees, gifts and lights seem to be the order of the day. It’s all about Jesus. I have shared the link with you. I hope that your faith will be refreshed this Christmas, and that someone you have been trying to reach out to for Christ, will have theirs ignited. Have a blessed Christmas season. https://youtube/watch?v=2O5Q0UsG-Dc
