Focusing-Oriented Therapy teleconference This is Celebrate Gene - TopicsExpress

Focusing-Oriented Therapy teleconference This is Celebrate Gene month, in honor of Dr Eugene Gendlin, originator of Focusing. The Focusing Institute is offering a teleconference on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 8 PM New York time. Eugene Gendlin has received the American Psychological Association’s highest award for Distinguished Theoretical and Philosophical Contributions to Psychology. In 2008 he was awarded Vienna’s Viktor Frankl prize. He was editor for many years of the APA’s Clinical Division Journal, Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice. His book, Focusing, has sold over 500,000 copies and is translated into 17 languages. His other books include Let Your Body Interpret Your Dreams, and Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy. Before this teleconference, participants will receive a link to a video, The Theory of Focusing-Oriented Therapy. In this video, Gene Gendlin takes us into his thinking about the nature of being human, how to access and unfold our inner knowing, and how this relates to experiential psychotherapy. Participants are encouraged to submit questions, about Genes talk, or about how to apply this in practice. During the teleconference, we will be addressing questions, as well as conducting an experiential demonstration so that all of this makes sense experientially, not just as abstract ideas. Serge Prengel, LMHC will host the teleconference. He is the editor of the Focusing Conversations series, and in private practice in New York City. To participate in the call, you will need to register ahead of time. See: focusing.org/celebrate-gene-tele
