Foley, ALABAMA: Driver who hit dog in Foley should have stopped to help; animals lives matter: reader opinion This is a message for the driver of the truck that hit a dog on Hwy 59 in downtown Foley on Wednesday afternoon. We all know it was an accident that the dog was hit, but the fact that you did not stay and help get him to the vet is unconscionable. In case you are at all interested, the dog died shortly after arriving at the vets office. His internal injuries were so severe that there was nothing that could be done. Just thought you might like to know. This is from a concerned bystander who stopped to render assistance. So often people say, it doesnt matter, its only a dog. But these animals experience pain, just as we do. They experience fear, just as we do. They can grieve, just as we do. I have witnessed these feelings in my own pets at times. These pets depend on humans for their care and it is a sad thing if we dont do our best by them. There are many reasons why a person may accidentally injure a dog and then leave the scene, leaving it to die on the road. This is very cruel and inhumane no matter the reason for leaving. I hope this short letter will help remind all of us that all Gods creatures deserve the respect that God bestowed upon them when He created them and gave them into mans care. At the risk of sounding like a bleeding heart, I think all furry, four-footed lives are precious and deserve our love and care.
