Folks - I understand how bizarre this is to post to Facebook but I dont want anyone to take offense if they dont hear from me in the next several days or to assume the worst. Heres the story: I was on a family vacation - our first since Warren G. Harding was in the White House - and on the second damn day, I had a crippling stomach ache. Normally this isnt cause for concern because my dietary habits can be a tad - ahem - gross. But this particular stomach ache lasted ten hours so we went to the emergency room. Turns out I had a big ol benign tumor in my intestine. I am just out of surgery no longer with a tumor and no longer with some of my intestines. Basically, the days of eating Tabasco soup are done and I will no longer call Wicked Petes hot sauce a vegetable. I feel incredibly lucky. Ive lost dear friends to cancer and I have friends and family who are survivors and I marvel at their collective courage, now more than ever. It will take a couple weeks to heal, so please be patient if you need to hear back from me. But make no mistake about it: I will be back to kick ass, take names, and smash all who believe that the kind of health care I was able to receive should be a privilege for the few. I also fully expect to be above the rim and dunking again by October. Solidarity always Dave Z
