Folks, I know Ive posted this before. But if you didnt listen because you dont like the original or you tuned it out because the first 17 seconds werent all that, do yourself a favor and take it in. All three of them nail the performance. Kate Davis, aside from nailing the vocal tune and the bass, uses her accent and phrasing to be cute in exactly the pre-WWII way the arrangement calls for. And Bradlee is a genius. The way Smokey Robinson used to write lyrics for different performers and groups and have the words be an even better fit the performers than when they wrote their own songs--thats what Bradlees been doing with arrangements and stagings (not words) for vocalists on all the Postmodern Jukebox covers. I think hes supplanting Rich Dworsky who directs the house band for Prairie Home Companion as my favorite pianist/arranger. https://youtube/watch?v=iyTTX6Wlf1Y
