Folks as the fastest political story in Zambia continues to break, here just in. Cheers --- PRESS STATEMENT ON PUBLIC RALLIES TO BE HELD BY PATRIOTIC FRONT PRESIDENT EDGAR C LUNGU IN MONGU AND LUSAKA ISSUED BY PF SECRETARY GENERAL DAVIS CHAMA IN LUSAKA ON 9TH DECEMBER 2014 ---- Dear esteemed members of the Zambian and international media. I am happy to inform you today that following the resounding success and huge turn-out the inaugural rallies our party President Edgar Lungu received in Kitwe and Mansa recently, we are stepping up the gear and holding two more rallies. Hon. Lungu will this Saturday December 13th, 2014 hold a rally in the Western Provincial Capital, Mongu, where he is expected to make a number of pronouncements regarding what the party is doing for the Western Province today and plan to do in future. It must be noted that honourable Lungu enjoys a good relationship with not only the people of the Western Province but the Litunga Imwiko Lubosi II, who recently honoured him with the presentation of a royal walking stick to guide him in his leadership path. After the Mongu tour, hon Lungu will on Sunday December 14th 2014 hold yet another rally that has been slated for Mandevu grounds, which will mark the beginning of the several rallies the President is expected to hold in the capital as he steps up his national campaign. Let me also take this opportunity yet again commend Local Government Minister Emmanuel Chenda for joining several other top party members that have cast aside personal ambitions to back hon Lungu in the race for the party and national Presidency. Hon. Chenda showed political maturity when he joined others such as Kabwata Legislator hon. Given Lubinda, hon. Chishimba Kambwili, hon. Wylbur Simuusa and his worship the Mayor of Lusaka Mr Mulenga Sata. We urge all others still standing on the face to be brave and join the winning team of hon. Lungu, it is not too late. These honourable gentlemen have, if anything shamed the critics of the ruling PF and effectively shown that ours is a party that is founded on maturity and unity. United we stand, divided we fall. Our unity is unquestionable and it is this unity that gels us to the people and shall subsequently win us the January 20 polls so that we can bring to a conclusive end, our many productive developmental projects. May I also take this opportunity to caution well thinking Zambians to disregard cheap propaganda that is being pushed by an extremely bitter section of the media, on and off the internet that have made it their duty to scandalise our President at every given opportunity with glee. To this bitter media that are upset because honourable Lungu has refused to be ‘owned’ and controlled by sectional interest, I only have one piece of advice: “resentment is like drinking poison and hoping that it will kill your enemy.” Hon. Lungu means well, he is qualified for the job as he has demonstrated in the past and all the mud that is being desperately thrown at him will only build him. Zambians are too intelligent to be hood-winked by bitter propaganda from sectional interests. Hon Lungu wants to build schools, provide medicine in hospitals and improve the lively-hood of farmers that feed this peaceful nation. Hon Lungu needs commendation and not condemnation premised on envy and hate. God bless you all and turn up en masse for the rallies in Mongu and Mandevu to hear your beloved leader speak. Signed: Davis Chama Position: Secretary General Party: Patriotic Front
