Folks, over the last few weeks I have been contacted by a number of people on facebook informing me of malicious posts and statements being posted on different facebook pages regarding myself and other Independent candidates. Some might say that its all part of the cut and thrust of politics, however to others it can be frustrating that blatant lies are being told. The frequency of these posts seem to be growing as we get closer to polling day. My advice to any friends and supporters on facebook is if possible to ignore such comments. However it is understandable that some would want to counteract such lies. Social Media can have both negative and positive qualities and I would encourage people to use the positive qualities. For the first time there is an opportunity for voters right across this City to vote for an Independent candidate in each ward and reports from these candidates are that they are being very well received on the doorsteps. We can be sure that this message is also getting through to the big partys and as a result we can expect more attacks in the coming days. Rather than getting involved in endless slagging matches I would encourage everyone who wants to see change in local politics to use their facebook to promote this positive change by taking time out over the next few days and go through their friends list, contact as many of them as possible and convince them of the merits of voting for Independent Candidates. STAY POSITIVE VOTE INDEPENDENT.
