Folks, this is just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG that is fueling gentrification not only in Venice but across Los Angeles City!!! --- A retired Los Angeles building inspector was sentenced Monday to 2 1/2 years in prison resulting from a federal probe into bribe-taking at the Department of Building and Safety. ----- Corruption and collusion is the name of the game and we have our own little can of worms right here in Venice -- and its called LUPC -- which is currently working hard to keep us in the dark about the new Gjelinas at 320 Sunset Avenue that is being pushed on the community without due process. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR VENICE COMMUNITY - then please attend the Special LUPC meeting tomorrow (Wed) night April 2 @ 6:45 pm at Oakwood Rec. Center to DECLARE your dissatisfaction with the lack of INTEGRITY (add to that honesty and truth) associated with LUPCs handling of the 320 Sunset case and to DEMAND accountability from LUPC members for their lack of TRANSPARENCY in representing our community on these crucial issues. Read on: U.S. District Judge Dean D. Pregerson also ordered Samuel In, a 37-year city employee who retired in 2011, to pay $30,000 to the city. In, who pleaded guilty to felony bribery last year, is one of five former Building and Safety employees to face either criminal charges or dismissal as a result of the bribery probe. Addressing the courtroom, In pleaded for a second chance, saying he would not make the same mistakes again. I have disgraced my family and myself, he said, his voice choked with emotion. Pregerson said In, a longtime community volunteer, had done some good deeds and provided some restitution to people who had given him bribes. Those acts, however, were not sufficient to outweigh 3 1/2 years of corruption, Pregerson said. We have to do everything we can to ensure our system has integrity, he said. latimes/local/la-me-building-inspector-corruption-20140325,0,2973442.story#ixzz2xf3HN586
